What is the Aromatouch Technique?

From left to right: Balance, Lavender, Melaleuca, On-Guard, AromaTouch, Deep Blue, Peppermint, and Wild Orange

The Aromatouch Technique is Doterra's signature and proprietary method that is often compared to raindrop therapy. Developed by Dr. David K Hill, the AromaTouch Technique was created for use with certain Doterra essential oils in a safe, effective and unique way to promote a sense of overall well-being. By using a specific set of oils in a precise protocal, the AromaTouch technique focuses on four different areas: stress relief, immune enhancement, inflammatory response reduction, and homeostasis. Each session takes about 45 minutes, but may also be scheduled and fully completed in half hour to accompany your massage for the ultimate relaxation experience. While a typical Aromatouch session is done on the back and feet, it can also be done on the hands as a quick 10-minute accompaniment with the essential oil of your choosing.

It is important to note that Doterra's essential oils are very pure and potent. This being said, please advise us of any allergies you may have at the time of scheduling. This gives us the opportunity to give you a sample of each oil to try prior to your appointment. Even if you have no known allergies, samples may still be given if there has been enough notice. If an allergic reaction or sensitivity has presented itself, that specific oil shall be omitted from your session. Because of the precise protocal Dr. David Hill developed, no oils may be substituted during a full AromaTouch session. Fractionated coconut oil may be applied to the skin prior to any oils if you have a history of skin sensitivity or if you would simply like each oil to be slightly more diluted. It is good to also note that these sessions are very light in pressure and though they include techniques that may be found in a Swedish massage, it is not, nor does it include a massage, unless scheduled as an accompaniment.

Below we have dissected each section of the AromaTouch Technique and the essential oils used in each to give you a better understanding of their natural healing properties.
